18C (1987AJ02)(See the Isobar Diagram for 18C) GENERAL: See (1978AJ03, 1983AJ01) and Table 18.1 [Table of Energy Levels] (in PDF or PS). See (1983ANZQ, 1983FR1A, 1983WI1A, 1984SA37, 1986AN07, 1986AV1B, 1986GU1D, 1987SA15). Mass of 18C:The atomic mass excess of 18C is 24.923 ± 0.030 MeV, based on the Q-value of the 48Ca(18O, 18C)48Ti reaction. 18C is then bound by 4.187 MeV with respect to breakup into 17C + n (1982FI10). See also (1986PI09).
The half-life of 18C, τ1/2 = 66+25-15 msec, Pn ≈ 25% (1987MU1J; prelim.). See also (1984KL06; theor.).
The angular distribution of the π+ to the ground state of 18C has been measured at Eπ- = 164 MeV by (1984GI10) [see also for excitation function at θ = 5° for Eπ- ≈ 140 to 240 MeV]. There is also some indication of the population of an excited state at Ex = 1.55 MeV (1984GI10). See also (1983AJ01).
At E(18O) = 112 MeV the ground state and an excited state at 1.62 ± 0.02 MeV are observed by (1982FI10). See also (1983AJ01). |
