9C (1974AJ01)

(See the Isobar Diagram for 9C)

GENERAL: See also (1966LA04) and Table 9.12 [Table of Energy Levels] (in PDF or PS).

Model calculations: (1966BA26).

Other topics: (1966BA26, 1966MC1C, 1972AN05, 1972CA37, 1973LA19).

Ground state properties, including theoretical mass predictions: (1965GO1D, 1966BA26, 1966GO1B, 1966KE16, 1969GA1P, 1969JA1M, 1972CE1A, 1973HA77).

Mass of 9C: From the threshold energy of 7Be(3He, n)9C (1971MO01) the atomic mass excess of 9C is 28.908 ± 0.004 MeV. This value is in good agreement with that obtained from the Q-value of 12C(3He, 6He)9C [28.912 ± 0.009 MeV]. See also (1967BA59).

1. (a) 9C(β+)9B → 8Be + p Qm = 16.677
9C(β+)9B → 5Li + α Qm = 14.80

The half-life of 9C is 126.5 ± 1.0 msec (1971HA05, 1972ES05), 126.5 ± 2 msec (1971MO01). Several groups of delayed protons are observed indicating the involvement of a number of 9B states: see Table 9.10 (in PDF or PS) (1972ES05). See also (1965HA09). See also (1966BA26, 1971WI18, 1972WI28, 1972WI1C, 1973TO14; theor.).

2. 7Be(3He, n)9C Qm = -6.278

Ethresh. = 8980 ± 5 keV (1971MO01). See also (1967BA59).

3. 10B(p, 2n)9C Qm = -25.710

See (1965RO1G).

4. 11B(p, 3n)9C Qm = -37.166

See (1965HA09).

5. 12C(p, d2n)9C Qm = -50.898

See (1965HA09).

6. 12C(3He, 6He)9C Qm = -31.574

Q0 = -31.578 ± 0.008 MeV (1970TR05, 1970TR1F, 1971TR03). See also (1964CE04).
