17B (1986AJ04)

(Not illustrated)

17B has been observed in the 4.8 GeV proton bombardment of uranium: it is particle stable and its ground state Jπ is probably 3/2- (1974BO05). Its atomic mass excess is estimated by (1985WA02) to be 44.01 ± 0.70 MeV. It is then stable with respect to decay into 15B + 2n by 1.10 MeV. Eβ-(max) for the decay to 17Cg.s. would then be 22.98 MeV. See also (1984MU27) and (1983ANZQ, 1985PO10; theor.).
